Increase your knowledge of terms used in medical offices, nursing, insurance and paramedical professions.  Many students have found their ability to use medical terminology correctly has enhanced their job readiness and performance on the job.  The main emphasis of this course is upon the definitions, abbreviations and spelling of common medical terms.  Due to the technical reading required for this course, high school reading level is strongly suggested.  This is a recommended pre-requisite for Practical Nursing, Medical Transcription, Medical Office Assistant, Certified Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide, and other medical related courses.  This course can be taken as a stand-alone class, however, it is also one of the eight required courses to complete the Medical Office Assistant Fast-Track.  Textbook required.
